Most Hotels perform weddings and offer only one wedding per day. The general information is applicable at all resorts and the choice of where you actually get married within the resort is up to you - on the beach, in the gardens, by the pool, on your terrace or balcony.

ON ARRIVAL

  • Your wedding co-ordinator at the resort will meet with you during your stay to discuss the necessary details regarding all procedures for your wedding including any extras, legal requirements and location.
  • After this meeting, your wedding co-ordinator will arrange (if required) flowers, photographer, videographer, musicians, music to be played (we recommend you take a tape/cd if you have a particular song), beauty/hair- dressing appointments. All extras are payable in Mauritius. A price guide can be obtained for each resort.
  • Two witnesses are needed. These can be provided by the hotel if required.
  • If the bride has been divorced in the last 10 months, she will need a Mauritian Doctor's certificate of non- pregnancy. This is at the client's expense.
  • Renewal of vows can also be arranged at the hotels.
  • Wedding couples receive the exclusive honeymoon gift pack, which varies as per hotel chosen.
  • MPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION

    The following documents are required by African Dreams at least 6 weeks prior to the wedding date, as they are required to complete legal procedures by the Civil Status Office in Mauritius:

  • 4 Photocopies of each applicant's Birth Certificate
  • 4 Photocopies of the first 3 pages of each applicant's Passport
  • 4 Photocopies of each applicant's Death or Divorce Certificates (if relevant)
  • NB: An official translator must translate all wedding documents in English.

    The following application forms must be completed and signed by the Bride and Groom and is to be lodged along with the other documentation required as stated above.

    These forms are in Adobe Acrobat PDF files to be printed, completed, signed and returned to African Dreams with the rest of the required documents.

    Application to Marry for Non-Citizens Under Section 24A of the Civil Status Act Form

    At least three (3) days before the wedding, the clients will have to go to the Registrar General's office in Port Louis. All original copies of the documentation must be presented and all affidavits will then be checked by the Attorney of Law. The clients then proceed to the Supreme Court to swear their affidavit.

    A previously divorced bride wishing to marry within 10 months of the "Decree of Divorce" must go through a pregnancy test (Mauritian Law). If under these circumstances the test is positive, the civil marriage cannot be celebrated in Mauritius. The cost of the pregnancy test is at the client's own expense.

    COST OF THE LEGAL PROCEDURES

    The following legal procedures are compulsory and require prepayment in Australian dollars prior to departure. Fees include:

  • Return Taxi fare to Port Louis.
  • Affidavit fee and Supreme Court charges
  • Civil Status Officer's Fees including transport - WEEK DAYS ONLY
  • Administrative charges.
  • COST OF LEGAL FEES: AU$ 715.00

    NB: Please note that there is a court translator available for couples who do not understand English at an additional cost (Paid direct in Mauritius). Legal Fees and taxi costs are subject to change.
