On the 1st of August 2008, a remodelled Sugar Beach will reopen after 4 months of renovation, offering a new and exclusive experience with an enhanced plantation style and introducing a more contemporary feel. More than 15 Million Euros have been invested in upgrading the property to a 5 star standard. The resort will reopen with 2 Villa Suites, 92 Superior Ground Floor Villa rooms and 164 Standard Rooms.

The public areas comprising of the front entrance, the reception lobby, Mon Plaisir restaurant (the main dining room), the main pool and Citronellas Café is being enhanced. Sugar Beach will also feature a completely new Spa and a 294 square meters of air-conditioned and fully equipped conference and meeting areas.

Sugar Beach is managed by the hotel group Sun Resorts, which also owns and manages three other hotels in Mauritius, namely Le Touessrok, La Pirogue and Le Coco Beach and one hotel in the Maldives, Kanuhura.
