This tour is devoted to the UNESCO World Heritage site of rare palms that lies amid the hidden splendour of the Vallée de Mai whose collection of endemic plants includes the legendary Coco-de-mer palm.

Local folklore has it that, at sundown the male Coco-de-mer trees join in amorous embrace with the female trees and that no human spectator ever lives to tell the tale of what follows!! The result of all this nocturnal activity is the curious double-hulled Coco-de-mer nut that so resembles the female pelvis.

Keen sighted visitors may also spot the equally rare Black Parrot, which feeds on fruits and berries in dappled shade of the Vallée’s depths
