France Hotels 17 Place des Vosges**
Location/Description The Place des Vosges is surrounded by buildings with red brick and white stone facades, steep slate roofs and dormer windows, all constructed over arcades. It was built in 1612 by order of Henry IV on the site of the Hotel Des Tournelles, a favourite place for duels at the time.
Many famous French men and women have resided in Place des Vosges. Cardinal Richelieu, who became Prime Minister of France in 1624, lived at number 21, Victor Hugo, great author, lived on the second floor of number 6. It is where he wrote most of "Les Miserables". Number 17 was the former residence of the famous cleric and orator, Jacques Bossuet. Accommodation The Apartment enjoys a modern kitchen and bathroom as well as two seperate WCs. General The Place des Vosges is the oldest square in Paris and one of the most beautiful squares in the world. It is located in the 4th arrondissement, in the historical Marais district. Its central position means that it is a short walk or metro ride to the city's most famous attractions, amongst them, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Musée D'Orsay and Notre Dame.
